Lori Rabner
With 25 years as a licensed clinical social worker in pediatric hematology-oncology, I have had the honor of walking beside families facing some of the most complex and life altering moments imaginable. In that work, I’ve also spent decades partnering with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams as they navigated crises, high-stakes decisions, and the emotional weight of caring for patients with chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Over the years, something became clear, the people providing care also carry stories, emotions, and burdens that need a place to land. I found myself naturally becoming a sounding board for physicians and staff, supporting them through the emotional toll, the moral distress, the cognitive overload, and the quiet moments of doubt or grief that often go unseen in medical culture. Those experiences deepened my commitment to Healing the Healers. My Approach I offer a space where physicians and healthcare professionals can slow down, feel understood, and explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we will explore the patterns, emotions, and experiences shaping your work and well-being. I bring a grounded presence, someone who listens deeply, asks thoughtful questions, and helps you look at the parts of your story that often get pushed aside. Our time together focuses on helping you reconnect with your purpose, understand your internal responses, and create space to process the cumulative impact of your work whether you’re navigating critical surgeries, end-of-life conversations, ethical uncertainty, or the quiet grief of repeated exposure to suffering. Why I Do This Work Physicians and healthcare professionals are trained to compartmentalize, stay composed, and keep moving. But you’re also human and the emotional and cognitive demands of medicine are enormous. You deserve a place where you don’t have to be “the expert,” “the strong one,” or “the one who always knows what to do.” My passion is creating that space, a grounded environment where you can untangle the weight you carry, rediscover your sense of meaning, and restore the parts of yourself that medicine may have asked you to set aside. This is your space to process, reflect, reconnect, and recover so you can continue offering compassionate care without losing yourself in the process.
